One of the most important indicators determining the quality of the film is  thickness, but in the production process may occur such a problem as the thickness variation. This problem can occur at any time, and the reason is not always related to the use of fillers.

One of the reasons, for example, may be associated with a particular construction of the extruder. That is, the ratio of length to diameter of the screw, the number of heating zones and their regulation, as well as other technological features not allow to achieve the required quality of film with the introduction of modifiers.

The second common cause of thickness variation can be the composition of the raw materials used in the technological mix:

• poor quality of primary polymer;
• the use of secondary raw materials of dubious origin;
• the influence of other components of the mixture.

In addition, the variable thickness often occurs as a result of technological errors in equipment settings. Since the introduction in the technological compound of any fillers, including chalk additives, changing its density, the rate of flow of the melt, melting temperature, in this case, you may need to change all modes of operation of the equipment, in particular:

• the control of melt temperature in different heating zones;
• fine regulation of air supply to the zone of formation of the sleeve;
• combined regulation, including those listed above.

Thus, we can conclude that the introduction of different modifiers inevitably leads to a complex of actions for setting up the equipment, perhaps to modernize it and to experienced contractors with a part of the technological mix.
